Optical Networking Day 1 Session 1 – Optimizing Metro, Long Haul, and Subsea Networks with 130+ Gbaud Coherent Connections
Since the introduction of coherent technology, symbol rates have continually risen enabling higher transmission bandwidths over longer distances. The introduction of 90 Gbaud coherent systems in 2020 proved to be a significant development enabling 800G and long-haul 400G deployments. Current developments of 130/140 Gbaud and 200+ Gbaud solutions are enabling further performance optimizations in addition to higher data rates of 1.2T and 1.6T. At this significant time, as the service provider is prepared to deploy 130+ Gbaud coherent systems, we will explore the opportunities and challenges both now and in the future
Among the topics, this session will address:
- Metro, long haul, and subsea networks in the 130+ Gbaud era
- DSP and optical developments for 130/140 Gbaud and 200+ Gbaud systems
- The role of pluggable coherent modules in long-haul networks
- Where next for open optical networking in metro, long-haul, and subsea networks
