400G Performance & Integration Drive Multicore Processors

October 2014

Performance up to 400 Gbit/s and integrated accelerators for key networking functions, such as security and deep packet inspection (DPI), are key requirements for the multicore processors required for the latest networking systems. These processors also need to integrate multiple CPU cores that can be used for both data plane and control plane functions and deliver line-rate performance using standard software frameworks to support the latest network architectures, including software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV).
